Resolve common issues with installation, configuration, resource processing, and data recovery.
Do I need an account or subscription?
The desktop app does not require an account. AI models, transcription, and web search use external services you configure. Providers set their fees; the app does not include free service credits.
Which systems are supported?
The official release reviewed here provides a Windows x64 MSI. Check official release assets for other systems. Build configuration alone does not mean an installer has been published.
Why does Windows show an unknown publisher?
The v0.1.0 installer is not code signed. Download it from the official release, verify SHA256 as described in Installation, and follow your device's management rules.
Why was no summary generated after saving?
Quick notes only save content. Text without a selected course goes to the inbox. Assigning a course does not automatically start summarization. Use “升级并总结” (Upgrade and summarize) or the record's generation entry when needed, and check model configuration and sharing consent.
Why is a recording still waiting?
Check the waiting reason shown in the record. You may need Tencent Cloud keys, consent to send audio, or a working network. Saving keys does not provide sharing consent. See Configure AI services.
What if a PDF or text import fails?
Check that the format is TXT, MD, PDF, or DOCX. Text files must use UTF-8. PDFs need extractable text; scanned files are not supported OCR. Resolve encryption, damage, or empty content first, or paste readable text.
What if AI cannot find my resources?
Check the selected course or resource scope, processing state, and archive state. Try short keywords from the source or add material and retry. A failed search does not prove the content is absent.
Does switching conversations stop an answer?
No. Switching mainly changes what is displayed and subscribed to. Use “停止” (Stop) to cancel generation. Return to the conversation to see saved messages and its current state.
Does local first mean fully offline?
No. Resources are stored locally, but online models, transcription, search, and clipping need network access. See Data and privacy.
Can an old installer open development data?
Do not do this. v0.1.0 supports database versions up to 57 and cannot open newer development databases. Use a new data folder or a matching app version. Do not manually change the database version.
What if startup fails or the data folder is in use?
Check that another KnowRealm instance is not using the same folder. Fully exit from the system tray and retry. If it still fails, keep the data and errors in logs/, then report your app version, system, reproduction steps, and redacted logs to official Issues.
Do the examples represent my learning?
No. Learning profile examples and some Today page illustrations demonstrate the interface. Follow their labels to distinguish them. See Documentation version for implementation and release acceptance boundaries.
